Dexamphetamine is a stimulant with a long history in attention research. This paper measures what it does when a person is not performing a task: the resting electroencephalogram, and the functional connectivity between cortical regions.
The approach
Resting EEG is recorded with and without dexamphetamine. The analysis covers both the spectrum of the signal and the coupling between sites, so a change in power and a change in connectivity can be told apart.
